How Crystals Work: How Crystals help promote healing

Updated: Apr 17, 2021

A collection of points to help you decide if crystals actually have healing or helpful properties:

Consider the following when deciding for yourself if crystals can actually help or work to promote healing or affects on the human body:

  • Crystals are made up of only few types of elements - meaning they are pretty pure in substance. For example, a quartz crystal is made of silicon and oxygen; an amythest has oxygen, iron, and silicon, a citrine crystal is made of silicon and oxygen again, but the atoms are arranged slightly different, etc.

  • Crystallization of a substance can only occur when there are minimal or no impurities in the atoms of the structure. An object will crystallize through a spontaneous, unpredictable process called nucleation. This is important. We will come back to this!

  • There are many examples of natural process that involve crystallization.

Geological time scale process examples include:

  • Natural (mineral) crystal formation (gemstones);

  • Stalactite/stalagmite, rings formation;

Human time scale process examples include:

  • Snow flakes formation;

  • Honey crystallization (nearly all types of honey crystallize). (Source)

  • The beautiful, absolutely symmetrical atomic structure of a crystal, with a perfect spacing of each atom in a few various geometric shapes

  • The exchange of electrons you have with these crystals (elements) when you hold them

"Three ways electrons can be transferred are conduction, friction, and polarization. In each case, the total charge remains the same. This is the law of conservation of charge. Conduction occurs when there is direct contact between materials that differ in their ability to give up or accept electrons." (source)

  • The placebo effect, strong on its own

  • One of the first pieces of scientific evidence relating to the power of crystals is the work done by IBM scientist Marcel Vogel. While watching crystals grow under a microscope, he noticed that their shape took the form of whatever he was thinking about. He hypothesized that these vibrations are the result of the constant assembling and disassembling of bonds between molecules. He also tested the metaphysical power of Clear Quartz and proved that rocks can store thoughts similar to how tapes use magnetic energy to record sound. (source)

  • Crystallization occurs in 2 phases: nucleation and growth. Nucleation is the event of atoms self-organizing themselves (crystallizing). So what causes nucleation? It is completely random and predictable! The act of self-organizing atoms is a stochastic process. What is the source of intelligence behind this stochastic event? What is the source of intelligence that instructs the atoms to arrange in a crystalline process? This is for you to decide!

  • Crystals are piezoelectric - they can conduct electricity
